The minimum wage for some Ohio employees is set to increase effective January 1, 2021.
The State’s minimum wage is tied to the Consumer Price Index and increases each year based on the rate of inflation.
Rates for 2021 are as follows:
Companies with annual gross receipts of more than $323,000 per year
- $8.80 per hour for non-tipped employees
- $4.40 per hour plus tips for tipped employees (any employee who customarily and regularly receives more than $30 per month in tips)
Companies with annual gross receipts of less than $323,000 per year
- $7.25 per hour for all employees (the rate is tied to the federal minimum wage, which remains unchanged for 2021)
Workers under the age of 16
- $7.25 per hour for all 14 and 15-year-olds (the rate is tied to the federal minimum wage, which remains unchanged for 2021)
All Ohio employers are required to post a notice regarding minimum wage and overtime pay information in a conspicuous location that is readily accessible to all employees. A link to the required poster is found HERE.
