Critchfield, Critchfield & Johnston is pleased to announce that Member and Chief Operating Officer James Lanham has been elected a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC).
ACTEC is an organization of almost 2,400 trust and estate lawyers and law professors who have been elected by their peers in recognition of having made outstanding contributions to the practice of trust and estate law. To qualify for membership, a lawyer must have no less than 10 years of experience in the active practice of probate and trust law or estate planning. Lawyers and law professors are elected to be Fellows based on their outstanding reputation, exceptional skill, and substantial contributions to the field by lecturing, writing, teaching, and participating in bar activities. It is their aim to improve and reform probate, trust and tax laws, procedures, and professional responsibility.
For over three decades, Lanham has provided a full spectrum of legal services to individuals, families, and businesses as they plan for the future. Utilizing sophisticated wealth planning techniques, he delivers personal and individualized advice to each and every client, focusing on the nuances that make every client’s situation unique. Among his other accomplishments, Lanham earned certification by the Ohio State Bar Association as a Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law.
In addition to his responsibilities to his clients, Lanham has contributed his time to numerous charitable organizations, including service as Past President of the Wooster Kiwanis Club. He is serving as the Past Chair of Goodwill Industries of Wayne and Holmes Counties. He also actively educates others through speaking engagements across the firm’s geographic footprint and as the author of a number of published articles and client alerts on topics related to estate planning, trust, and wealth and succession planning.
Lanham earned his law degree from the University of Akron School of Law and his undergraduate degree from the College of Wooster.
